Server Installation Step 1 Unstuff the file "up031.sea.hqx" on your Macintosh, e.g. by using StuffIt Expander. A folder up031 will be created. For updating ES-Backup on: Solaris 2.8 in 64-bit mode copy the file "up031:Software:solaris:2_8:up031_sun4-sparc64.inst.tar.Z" to an EtherShare volume. Continue with step 2 below. Linux copy the file "up031:Software:linux:up031_linux-int.inst.tar.Z" to an EtherShare volume. Continue with step 2 below. MacOS X you have two choices, A. and B.: A. as administrator mount the disk image "ES-Backup.dmg" from folder "Software:macosx:". This will mount the volume "ES-Backup for MacOS X". Open "ES-Backup.pkg" in order to start the Installer which will guide you through the update process. You do not need to continue with step 2. B. copy the file "up031:Software:macosx:up031_macosx-ppc.inst.tar.Z" to an EtherShare volume. Continue with step 2 below. Step 2 The file you copied under Step 1 above is referred to as YOUR_OS_FILE below. As root user do the following from the Unix console: (make sure no user is connected to the ES-Backup server, stop the ES-Backup server) # cd YourESBackupInstallationFolder # ./stop-busrv # cp ESVOLUME/YOUR_OS_FILE/tmp # cd /tmp # uncompress -c YOUR_OS_FILE | tar xvf - (ESVOLUME is the path to your EtherShare volume) (The folder /tmp/ES-BACKUP-UP031 will be created) # cd /tmp/ES-BACKUP-UP031 (now call the update script) # ./UP031.SH (The update will be installed. Follow the installation instructions from the script) For more information, please refer to the ES-Backup manuals.
