Notes on ES-Backup Update 3.1.0up028, February 20th, 2003 Overview This document describes the contents and installation of the ES-Backup update up028 as of February 20th, 2003. up028 contents This update is made of 3 Unix compressed tar-archive used for updating ES-Backup 3.1 on Solaris, Linux and MacOS X. NOTE: Do not install this update on any other version of ES-Backup than version 3.1. NOTE: The updated ES-Backup Server may be used with ES-Backup Admin 3.1. The tar-archives include the following files: esbackup This executable binary will be installed in the ES-Backup Server installation directory specified during the installation, subdirectory etc/. This file has the version number 3.1.0up028. Changes incorperated with this update: - Fixed a problem where under specific situations the Helios Preferences file could be deleted. busrv This executable binary will be installed in the ES-Backup Server installation directory specified during the installation. This file has the version number 3.1.0up028. Changes incorperated with this update: - Fixed a problem where under specific situations the Helios Preferences file could be deleted. Server Installation Step 1 Unstuff the file "up028.sea.hqx" on your Macintosh, e.g. by using StuffIt Expander. A folder up028 will be created. For updating ES-Backup on: MacOS X you have two choices, A. and B.: A. Quit all ES-Backup Admin connections to the ES-Backup Server! As administrator mount the disk image "ES-Backup.dmg" from folder "Software:macosx:". This will mount the volume "ES-Backup for MacOS X". Open "ES-Backup.pkg" in order to start the Installer which will guide you through the update process. You do not need to continue with step 2. B. copy the file "up028:Software:macosx:up028_macosx-ppc.inst.tar.Z" to an EtherShare volume. Continue with step 2 below. Step 2 As root user do the following from the Unix console: (make sure no user is connected to the ES-Backup server, stop the ES-Backup server) # cd YourESBackupInstallationFolder # ./stop-busrv # cp ESVOLUME/up028_macosx-ppc.inst.tar.Z /tmp # cd /tmp # uncompress -c up028_macosx-ppc.inst.tar.Z | tar xvf - (ESVOLUME is the path to your EtherShare volume) (The folder /tmp/ES-BACKUP-UP028 will be created) # cd /tmp/ES-BACKUP-UP028 (now call the update script) # ./UP028.SH (The update will be installed.
