Notes on ES-Backup up017, March, 27, 2002

Overview
--------
This document describes the contents and installation of the
ES-Backup update up017 as of March, 27, 2002.


up017 contents
--------------
This update is made of 4 Unix compressed tar-archives used for
updating ES-Backup 3.0.4 on Solaris 2.5.1, Solaris 2.6/2.7
in 32-bit mode, Solaris 2.7/2.8 in 64-bit mode, and Linux.

NOTE: Do not install this update on any other version of ES-Backup
than version 3.0.4 (i.e. 3.0.3 including up015 and up016).
NOTE: The updated ES-Backup Server may be used with ES-Backup
Admin 3.0.3 .

The tar-archives include the following files:

esbrestore, esbdump (Linux):

These executable binaries will be installed in the ES-Backup Server
installation directory specified during the installation, in it's
subfolder etc/ .
These files have the version number 0.4b23l3 (Linux) and 0.4b23s3
(Solaris) as of March, 27, 2002.

Changes incorperated with this update:
- Fixed conditions where some files cannot be restored.
- Faster restore on some older tape drives.


Server Installation
-------------------
Unstuff the file "up017.sea.hqx" on your Macintosh, e.g. by using
StuffIt Expander. A folder up017 will be created.

For updating ES-Backup on:

Solaris 2.5.1 copy the file
"up017:Software:Solaris:2_5_1:up017_sun4-sparc251.inst.tar.Z"

Solaris 2.6 or 2.7 in 32-bit mode copy the file
"up017:Software:Solaris:2_6_&_2_7_&_2_8:up017_sun4-sparc.inst.tar.Z"

Solaris 2.7 or 2.8 in 64-bit mode copy the file
"up017:Software:Solaris:2_6_&_2_7_&_2_8:up017_sun4-sparc64.inst.tar.Z"

Linux copy the file
"up017:Software:linux:up017_linux-int.inst.tar.Z"


to an EtherShare volume.

As root user do the follwoing from the Unix console:

(make sure no user is connected to the ES-Backup server,
stop the ES-Backup server)
# cd /usr/local/bu
# ./stop-busrv

# cd /tmp
# uncompress -c ESVOLUME/up017_YYY.inst.tar.Z | tar xvf -
(ESVOLUME is the path to your EtherShare volume)
(YYY is the requested filename part of the update file)
(The folder /tmp/ES-BACKUP-UP017 will be created)

# cd /tmp/ES-BACKUP-UP017

(now call the update script)
# ./UP017.SH
(The update will be installed. Follow the installation instructions
from the script)
