Notes on ES-Backup up015, February, 4, 2002 =========================================== Overview -------- This document describes the contents and installation of the ES-Backup update up015 as of February, 4, 2002. up015 contents -------------- This update is made of 4 Unix compressed tar-archives used for updating ES-Backup 3.0.3 on Solaris 2.5.1, Solaris 2.6/2.7 in 32-bit mode, Solaris 2.7/2.8 in 64-bit mode, and Linux. NOTE: Do not install this update on any other version of ES-Backup than version 3.0.3 . NOTE: The updated ES-Backup Server 3.0.4 may be used with ES-Backup Admin 3.0.3 . The tar-archives include the following files: esbrestore, esbdump (Linux): - - - - - - - - - - - - - - These executable binaries will be installed in the ES-Backup Server installation directory specified during the installation, in it's subfolder etc/ . These files have the version number 0.4b23l2 (Linux) and 0.4b23s2 (Solaris) as of February, 4, 2002. Changes incorperated with this update: - Workaround for unexpected data in dump archives created by ufsdump which leads to the message ". is not on the tape" and prevents restoring data. Now, if any unexpected data is found it is ignored. - Large file support for dump on Linux. Server Installation ------------------- Unstuff the file "up015.sea.hqx" on your Macintosh, e.g. by using StuffIt Expander. A folder up016 will be created. For updating ES-Backup 3.0.3 on: Solaris 2.5.1 copy the file "up015:Software:Solaris:2_5_1:up015_sun4-sparc251.inst.tar.Z" Solaris 2.6 or 2.7 in 32-bit mode copy the file "up015:Software:Solaris:2_6_&_2_7_&_2_8:up015_sun4-sparc.inst.tar.Z" Solaris 2.7 or 2.8 in 64-bit mode copy the file "up015:Software:Solaris:2_6_&_2_7_&_2_8:up015_sun4-sparc64.inst.tar.Z" Linux copy the file "up015:Software:linux:up015_linux-int.inst.tar.Z" to an EtherShare volume. As root user do the follwoing from the Unix console: (make sure no user is connected to the ES-Backup server, stop the ES-Backup server) # cd /usr/local/bu # ./stop-busrv # cd /tmp # uncompress -c ESVOLUME/up015_YYY.inst.tar.Z | tar xvf - (ESVOLUME is the path to your EtherShare volume) (YYY is the requested filename part of the update file) (The folder /tmp/ES-BACKUP-UP015 will be created) # cd /tmp/ES-BACKUP-UP015 (now call the update script) # ./UP015.SH (The update will be installed.
