Notes on ES-Backup up010, 1. August 2001

Overview
--------
This document describes the contents and installation of the
ES-Backup update up010 as of 1. August 2001.


up010 contents
--------------
This update is made of 4 Unix compressed tar-archives used for
updateing ES-Backup 3.0.1 on Solaris 2.5.1, Solaris 2.6/2.7
in 32-bit mode, Solaris 2.7/2.8 in 64-bit mode, and Linux.

NOTE: Do not install this update on any other version of ES-Backup
than version 3.0.1 .
NOTE: The updated ES-Backup Server 3.0.2 may be used with ES-Backup
Admin 3.0.1 .

The tar-archives include the following files:

busrv, esbackup, esb_daily and smtc_cmd:

These executable binaries will be installed in the ES-Backup Server
installation directory specified during the installation, in it's
subfolder etc/, and in it's subfolder etc/driver/, respectively.
All files have the version number 3.0.2 as of 1. August 2001.

Changes incorperated with this update:
Fixes to access DDS/4, LTO and Tandberg DLT tape changers.
Internal communication changes.


Server Installation
-------------------
Unstuff the file "up010.sea.hqx" on your Macintosh, e.g. by using
StuffIt Expander. A folder up010 will be created.

For updateing ES-Backup 3.0.1 on:

Solaris 2.5.1 copy the file
"up010:Software:Solaris:2_5_1:up010_sun4-sparc251.inst.tar.Z"

Solaris 2.6 or 2.7 in 32-bit mode copy the file
"up010:Software:Solaris:2_6_&_2_7:up010_sun4-sparc.inst.tar.Z"

Solaris 2.7 or 2.8 in 64-bit mode copy the file
"up010:Software:Solaris:2_6_&_2_7:up010_sun4-sparc64.inst.tar.Z"

Linux copy the file
"up010:Software:linux:up010_linux-int.inst.tar.Z"


to an EtherShare volume.

As root user do the follwoing from the Unix console:

(make sure no user is connected to the ES-Backup server,
stop the ES-Backup server)
# cd /usr/local/bu
# ./stop-busrv

# cd /tmp
# uncompress -c ESVOLUME/up010_YYY.inst.tar.Z | tar xvf -
(ESVOLUME is the path to your EtherShare volume)
(YYY is the requested filename part of the update file)
(The folder /tmp/ES-BACKUP-UP010 will be created)

# cd /tmp/ES-BACKUP-UP010

(now call the update script)
# ./UP010.SH
(The update will be installed. Follow the installation instructions
from the script)
