NOTE: Do not install this update on any other version of ES-Backup than version 2.1.2 . NOTE: The updated ES-Backup Server 2.1.4 may be used with ES-Backup Admin 2.1.2 although it is recommended to use the provided new ES-Backup Admin 2.1.4 . The tar-archives include the following files: busrv and esbackup: - - - - - - - - - - These executable binaries will be installed in the ES-Backup Server installation directory specified during the installation, and in it's subfolder etc/, respectively. On RedHat Linux the ES-Backup Server now uses the eod parameter instead. We have now successfully tested ES-Backup with updates up to up004 installed on the following Linux systems: SuSE 6.3 RedHat 6.2 Go!Linux 7.2 - Fixed a problem with the ES-Backup Server under Linux sending an error email each time an automatic backup was activated/deactivated. smtc_cmd: - - - - - This executable binary will be installed in subfolder etc/driver of the ES-Backup Server installation directory specified during the installation. Server Installation ------------------- Unstuff the file "up004.sea.hqx" on your Macintosh, e.g. by using StuffIt Expander. A folder up004 will be created. For updateing ES-Backup 2.1.2 on: Solaris 2.5.1 copy the file "up004:Software:Solaris:2_5_1:up004_sun4-sparc251.inst.tar.Z" Solaris 2.6 or 2.7 in 32-bit mode copy the file "up004:Software:Solaris:2_5_1:up004_sun4-sparc.inst.tar.Z" Solaris 2.7 in 64-bit mode copy the file "up004:Software:Solaris:2_5_1:up004_sun4-sparc64.inst.tar.Z" Linux copy the file "up004:Software:Linux:up004_linux-int.inst.tar.Z" to an EtherShare volume. As root user do the follwoing from the Unix console: (make sure no user is connected to the ES-Backup server, stop the ES-Backup server) # cd /usr/local/bu # ./stop-busrv # cd /tmp # uncompress -c ESVOLUME/up004_YYY.inst.tar.Z | tar xvf - (ESVOLUME is the path to your EtherShare volume) (YYY is the requested filename part of the update file) (The folder /tmp/ES-BACKUP-UP004 will be created) # cd /tmp/ES-BACKUP-UP004 (now call the update script with the path to your ES-Backup server's installation parent directory, e.g. /usr/local) # ./UP004.SH /usr/local (The update will be installed. Follow the installation instructions from the script) Client Installation ------------------- Just copy the new ES-Backup Admin 2.1.4 application to your local harddisk and delete the old one.
