Changes incorporated with this update as of November 19th, 2003: The dump format written to tape by latest Solaris ufsdump command has changed. The esbrestore command for Solaris as well as the esbrestore and esbdump commands for Linux are adjusted accordingly in order to be able to read ufsdump created archives and to write ufsdump conform archives, respectively. There is no need to update esbrestore and esbdump on Mac OS X. The following new components will be installed. Solaris: esbrestore, version 0.4b29s7 Linux: esbrestore, esbdump, version 0.4b29l7 + up051 applicable for Solaris, Linux and Mac OS X operating systems. Changes incorporated with this update as of November 26th, 2003: ES-Backup did not update the internal mountinfo for tape changers in some situations. ES-Backup on Solaris (with latest Solaris patch clusters) was not able to load additional tapes from slots if a tape was full. The following new components will be installed. Solaris: busrv 3.2.2up051, esbackup 3.2.2up051, smtc_cmd 3.2.2up051, libsmtc.so 3.2.2up051 Linux: busrv 3.2.2up051, esbackup 3.2.2up051 Mac OS X: busrv 3.2.2up051, esbackup 3.2.2up051 + up052 applicable for Solaris, Linux and Mac OS X operating systems. Changes incorporated with this update as of December 3rd, 2003: After installation of the previous update up051 the Solaris tape driver timed out on some tape changer drives while trying to access the tape after or during a tape was loaded. The restore window of EtherShare Volume backups did not show any files if "Load entire Catalog" in ES-Backup Admin's local preferences was not ticked (the default), although the backup was successfull. The following new components will be installed: Solaris: busrv 3.2.2up052, esbackup 3.2.2up052, libsmtc.so 3.2.2up052, rmt 322.up052 Linux: busrv 3.2.2up052 Mac OS X: busrv 3.2.2up052 + up053 applicable for Solaris, Linux and Mac OS X operating systems. Changes incorporated with this update as of February 9th, 2004: esbdump on Mac OS X could crash on specific folders. esbrestore on Solaris and Linux were not able to restore multi tape backups if no QFA positions were available, e.g. backups made with 2.1 or 2.0. ES-Backup on Solaris and Linux was not able to restore the resource part of HFS+ files, i.e. the AppleDouble's resource file, backed up on Mac OS X. ES-Backup on Mac OS X was not able to recognize SCSI tape drives and tape changers when specific SCSI card, driver and Mac OS X combinations were used. ES-Backup on Linux was not able to recognize specific tape changers. The following new components will be installed: Solaris: esbrestore 0.4b29s8 Linux: esbrestore 0.4b29s8, libsmtc.so 3.2.2up053 Mac OS X: esbdump 3.2.2up053, libsmtc_s.dylib 3.2.2up053 + up054 applicable for Mac OS X operating systems. Changes incorporated with this update as of March 26th, 2004: ES-Backup on Mac OS X was not able to recognize tape drives and tape changers on Panther 10.3.3. Mac OS X: libsmtc_s.dylib 3.2.2up054 + up055 applicable for Mac OS X operating systems. Changes incorporated with this update as of April 16th, 2004: ES-Backup on Mac OS X was not able to recognize SCSI tape drives and tape changers on Panther 10.3.3 with specific SCSI card driver combinations. The following new components will be installed: Mac OS X: libsmtc_s.dylib 3.2.2up055 + up056 applicable for Solaris and Linux operating systems. Changes incorporated with this update as of April 23rd, 2004: ES-Backup Servers on Solaris and Linux could time out during remote access to some types of tape changers. The following new components will be installed: Solaris: rmt 3.2.2up056 Linux: rmt 3.2.2up056 + up057 applicable for Mac OS X operating systems. Changes incorporated with this update as of May 28th, 2004: esbdump could skip large directories on UFS file systems. The following new components will be installed: Mac OS X: esbdump3.3.0up057 + up058 applicable for Solaris and Linux operating systems. Changes incorporated with this update as of July 1, 2004: esbrestore on Solaris and Linux could skip the first file of a dump archive. System Requirements The provided updates are only valid for ES-Backup 3.2.2 versions. Installing ES-Backup updates on Solaris and Linux Mount the ES-Backup update CD-ROM on your UNIX system. Logon to a terminal shell as user root. Change to the CD-ROM mount point. Run the script installesb. Specify the ES-Backup Server installation directory (ufs/ext2/etx3) by choosing menu 1. Start the upate by choosing menu 3. All available updates will be installed. Quit the installer by choosing menu 0. Installing ES-Backup updates on Mac OS X Insert the ES-Backup update CD-ROM on your Mac OS X system. Mount the disk image ES-Backup.dmg from folder Sofware:updates:macosx. Open ES-Backup.pkg from volume ES-Backup for MacOS X to start the Installer. Choose an UFS or HFS+ partition as the destination volume.
